Fostering Love for the Prophet ﷺ this Rabi al-Awwal
Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,
As we embrace the blessed month of Rabi al-Awwal, a time to reconnect and invest deeply in our love and proximity to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), we encourage you to join us in this journey of spiritual growth and reflection.
At Sanad Prep, we are delving into the beautiful text of “Shama’il Muhammadiyah” by Imam Tirmidhi during our morning assemblies. This timeless work paints a vivid portrait of the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) noble character, physical attributes, and exemplary conduct, providing us with a profound source of inspiration and guidance.
We also urge students, young and old, to increase their reflection on the Prophet (peace be upon him) and their recitation of salawat (blessings upon him). We firmly believe that this study is critically important for all students’ proper education, growth, and maturation. The fact that our students are able to have these reminders every day in this month and even after, is one of the greatest blessings of Sanad Prep and simply a miracle whenever Allah facilitates this for our children in this age.
We invite you to engage in conversations with your children, finding ways to study and remind each other at home of the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) life and teachings. The best way to express our love for Allah is to emulate the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) good character and compassion towards our children within our homes.
We also encourage you to benefit from the insightful live lessons on YouTube by our beloved brother and teacher, Sh. Ibrahim Osi-Efa. Sh. Ibrahim possesses vast knowledge and has spent years studying with Habib Umar bin Hafiz (may Allah preserve him). He is currently covering the Shama’il text throughout this month. The lessons are about an hour long, but even listening to portions or the Q&A at the end can be immensely beneficial.
To access previous recordings of the *Rabi Readings – The Shama’il al-Muhammadiyya of Imam al-Tirmidhi* – please visit the Greensville Trust YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@GreensvilleTrust/streams
If you are unable to find the time for these lessons, please seek out other resources that may be easier for you to engage in reflecting on the Prophet (peace be upon him). In this blessed month of Rabi al-Awwal, let us not consider doing nothing as an option for ourselves, our families, or our children.
May Allah bless us all with increased love and connection to our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) in this sacred month and always.
Your brother,
Rehan
