6 Highly Effective Parenting Habits to Adopt

parenting

It is a busy world we live in, but the parents who are too busy for their children are busier than Allah intended them to be. To help you navigate through these chaotic times, here are a few simple, yet effective habits to adopt that will lead you to have a better relationship with your children.

  1. Pray at least one Salah together as a family: By praying together, you will not only be setting a good example for your children, but will also develop a stronger bond with each other by participating in acts of worship together.
  2. Eat Dinner together: Eat at least one meal together as a family. Instead of watching T.V while you eat, make dinner an excuse to talk to your children about their day.
  3. Familiarize yourself with their technology: We live in times where technology is constantly updating. In a world where technology has countless benefits, the fact that it has its share of evil cannot be denied. You should know how to operate and navigate the devices your kids use, and limit the use of their technology.
  4. Spend time with their friends: Your children will appreciate the fact if you make an effort to get to know their friends, and it will also give you a peace of mind.
  5. Pick up a hobby together: This will help you to define your relationship with your children, and help you to also develop a bond of friendship with them.
  6. Tuck them into bed, yes even the teens: If your kids are young, right before going to bed is a good time to read to them. You can also share your childhood stories with your kids, no matter how old they are. Your children want to talk to you! Give them a chance to open up. They appreciate the time you take out for them.

The relationship between parents and children is extremely valuable. It is a blessing, unlike any other blessing granted to us by Allah. May Allah make the process of parenting easy and successful for all the Sanad parents. (Ameen)
